Colonel Veiko-Vello Palm is set to become Commander of the Headquarters of the Estonian Defence Forces

Minister of Defence Jüri Luik issued a Directive naming Colonel Veiko-Vello Palm the Commander of the Headquarters of the Estonian Defence Forces, as of 5 December.

Minister of Defence Luik stated that Colonel Palm is an officer who has gained comprehensive experience in Estonia, as well as through international service and operations, and has shown himself to be a capable expert and strong leader.

‘In particular, I would like to highlight Colonel Palm's activities as Commander of the 1st Infantry Brigade, where he was faced with the complicated task of integrating the NATO enchanced Forward Presence battalion stationed in Estonia with our Infantry Brigade, He did a splendid job with that task,’ said Luik.

Colonel Veiko-Vello Palm began his service in the Defence Forces in 1992, as a conscript in the Kalev Single Infantry Battalion, and has also served as the Chief of Staff of the Tapa Training Centre, the Chief of the Operations and Training Department of the Headquarters of the Estonian Defence Forces, a staff officer in NATO Multinational Corps Northeast, located in Poland, and as the Director of the National Defence Planning Department within the Ministry of Defence.

From 2015 to 2018 Colonel Palm served as the Commander of the 1st Infantry Brigade; starting this summer, he has been the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Estonian Defence Forces.

Colonel Palm is a graduate of the Cadet School at the Finnish National Defence University and General Staff officer courses, and has participated in international military missions in Afghanistan in 2007 and 2010.

Estonian Ministry of Defence launches Cyber Security Training Centre

Today, Cyber Security Exercises and Training Centre CR14 started its operations in Estonia.  The Centre will operate under the Ministry of Defence and serve the needs of the Estonian Defence Forces and NATO´s Cyber Range as well as Allies and Partners.
