Introduction to electronic warfare set to take place in Tartu

Estonia’s first international defence cooperation exhibition on electronic warfare will begin in Tartu, tomorrow.

Over a period of three days, innovative solutions from defence industry companies, along with NATO’s Cyber Range and cyber security exercises, will be presented at the Tartu Airport and the Estonian Aviation Academy.

In addition, there will be a presentation of the International Centre for Defence and Security’s report on the development of Russia’s capability to conduct electronic warfare.

The defence cooperation exhibition provides Estonia's defence and security structures with the opportunity to directly examine many of the products and solutions available on the market.

A total of 15 international companies and delegations from more than 20 countries are participating in the exhibition.

Kusti Salm, National Armaments Director at the Ministry of Defence, said that Estonia’s interest at the event is to introduce its defence industry, create opportunities for exchanging contact information, and raise Estonia’s status and awareness regarding electronic warfare.

According to Minister of Defence Jüri Luik, the defence industry plays a key role in creating innovative solutions.

“More and more countries are contributing to their cyber-attack capabilities and instruments for conducting electronic warfare,” stated Luik.

“These high-tech methods for conducting warfare have become integral parts of modern-day armed conflict,“ said Luik.

Estonian companies that will be introducing their products and services are Defendec, Rangeforce, Guardtime, and Cybernetica, and participating international companies are Textron Systems, Teledyne Defence & Space, Chemring Technology Solution, SAAB, Rohde & Schwarz, CRFS, Log.In, PLATH, L3 TRL Technology, ELT / Elettronica, and Novator.

Participating countries include Australia, Bulgaria, Canada, Kuwait, Qatar, Lithuania, Latvia, Norway, Denmark, Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Serbia, Romania, Finland, Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, the United States, and Estonia.

The exhibition “Electronic Warfare & Military Cyber Live” is directed towards leaders in the cyber field, cyber security experts and procurement project managers.

It is being organised by the Ministry of Defence, the Estonian Defence Industry Association and Tangent Link, from Great Britain.
