Luik to meet with U.S. Secretary of Defense
Luik to meet with U.S. Secretary of Defense.
Minister of Defence Jüri Luik will meet this week, in Washington, with U.S. Secretary of Defense James Mattis.
The focus of Wednesday’s bilateral meeting at the Pentagon will be the themes of the NATO Summit, scheduled for July of this year.
In addition, the meeting between the President of the United States and the presidents of the Baltic States will be discussed, which is set to take place in Washington, in April.
The third topic at the meeting between Mattis and Luik is defence cooperation between the United States and Estonia.
They will discuss the contribution by the United States to Estonia's defence – investments, training and cyber defence related cooperation.
Luik will also be meeting with Mac Thornberry, Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, and Senator Jack Reed, the Ranking Member of the Senate Armed Services Committee.
The Minister of Defence will also be giving a presentation in Washington, at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), and will be laying a wreath at the Victims of Communism Memorial.
Luik will be accompanied on his visit by Kristjan Prikk, Undersecretary for Defence Policy of the Estonian Ministry of Defence.
