On June 8 Tallinn will host the fifth meeting of the Defence Ministers of
the Nordic countries, the Baltic countries and United States (5+3+1
meeting).
The meeting will focus on the defence issues in the Baltic Sea region and in
the world in general, on international terrorism and the new dimensions in
the fight against it. The delegations will also discuss the perspectives of
defence co-operation in the Baltic Sea region, as well as NATO and its
structures\' development in the region.
The Defence Ministers of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Denmark, Norway, Sweden
and USA have confirmed their presence at the Tallinn meeting. Finland and
Iceland will be represented by high rank officials.
The previous 5+3+1 meeting took place on June 9, 2001 in Turku, Finland.
The first 5+3+1 format meeting of the Defence Ministers took place in
Denmark, 1998.

The press-conference will be held in the conference centre of the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs. The press-conference will take place approximately from
12.15 till 12.45. All journalists, reporters, cameramen and photographers
should be accredited by June 6 at noon the latest. Entrance to the
conference hall on June 8 will be closed before the beginning of the
press-conference.
