Anu Rannaveski appointed as new Director General of Defence Resources Agency

Minister of Defence of Estonia, Hanno Pevkur has appointed Anu Rannaveski, current Director of the Defence Service Department of the Ministry of Defence, as Director General of the Defence Resources Agency. Rannaveski took office October 31. She has been performing the duties of Director General of the Defence Resources Agency since 21 March of this year.

According to Minister of Defence Pevkur, Rannaveski is an experienced expert in her field. ‘The Defence Resources Agency has undergone a number of major changes recently, and Anu has proven her ability to successfully implement those changes. I am convinced that her more than 10 years of experience working in the area of government will also ensure success in the position of Director General.’

According to Rannaveski, the Defence Resources Agency has been assigned more tasks than previously. ‘We are now responsible for human resources within the entire area of governance of the Ministry of Defence – ensuring modern, cutting-edge human resources service as well as supporting attractive career opportunities in national defence. In the current security situation, it is also important to contribute to the popularisation of conscription and national defence education.’

Rannaveski has worked in the area of governance of the Ministry of Defence since 2011. For the last four years she has served as the Director of the Defence Service Department of the Ministry of Defence. Prior to that, she worked for four years as Director of the Legal Department of the Defence Resources Agency.

Rannaveski graduated from the University of Tartu, Faculty of Education in 2003 and the University of Tartu, Faculty of Law in 2007. Rannaveski was awarded the Silver Badge of the Ministry of Defence in 2015, and a Cross of Merit, Third Class in 2017.

The Defence Resources Agency was established in 2005 and currently employs nearly 100 people.
