One of the most important topics will include the issue of NATO Air Policing Mission over the Baltic States´Airspace. The Estonian Minister of Defence, Mr. Jürgen Ligi, is planning to initiate a discussion on the Baltic States’ obligation to reimburse costs to NATO allies, which derive from the Air Policing Mission of the Baltic States.
In addition to attending official meetings, Mr. Ligi will familiarise himself with the newly procured transport aircrafts, and participate in a ceremony commemorating the 16th anniversary of the defence of the Vilnius television transmitter.
The Minister of Defence will be accompanied by the Commander of the Estonian Defence Forces, Major General Ants Laaneots, who will also meet with his Baltic colleagues. The Defence Minister, Mr. Jürgen Ligi, will travel to Panevezys, Lithuania, tomorrow to participate in a two-day meeting of Baltic Defence Ministers. The main topic for discussion will be the establishment of a joint infantry battalion for the NATO Response Force for 2010.
