Dear fellow Estonians, friends, and allies,
Today, as we mark the 106th anniversary of Estonia’s independence, we honour the generations before us who fought for our freedom. Their sacrifice reminds us that independence is not given—it must be defended, every day. With our combined efforts and alliances, today Estonia is defended better than ever.
This day is also a solemn reminder of the ongoing fight for freedom in Ukraine. Three years ago, Russia launched its full-scale war of aggression against Ukraine, seeking to destroy a sovereign nation. We will never accept changing borders by force, Estonia stands firmly with Ukraine.
Our NATO allies are with us: British, French, and American troops are here in Estonia, demonstrating the Alliance’s unwavering commitment to our collective defence. Additionally, NATO’s enhanced Air Policing mission and air defence rotations ensures that our skies remain secure,. Their presence is a powerful message: Estonia is defended and NATO stands united.
On this Independence Day, let us remember that our freedom is our responsibility. By standing strong, united, and prepared, we honour our past and secure our future.
Long live Estonia! Elagu Eesti!
