This week, at the Defence Forces Cyber Command, in Tallinn, Cyber defence related agencies from the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Estonia and the United States Department of Defense carried out a two day cyber defence training exercise, Cyber Fog, the objective of which was to practice cooperation between the cyber experts from both countries.

‘Information technology and, by association, cyber defence, have a significant impact on the entire field of defence, and with the area of administration of the United States Department of Defense alone there are multiple agencies dealing with cyber defence. For us, it is important that the people associated with cyber defence are familiar with each other and know how one or another organisation functions. Only in this way will we be able to cooperate as efficiently as possible during crises,’ said Tanel Sepp, Deputy Director of the Cyber Policy and IT Department.

Sepp added that the training exercise and the recently opened Cyber Defence Command both play an important role in helping to develop allied relations.

More than 20 information technology specialists, legal professionals and government officials from Estonia and the United States took part in the training exercise Cyber Fog, which was organised for the first time this year.
