The Estonian delegation was given an overview of training areas and their environmental problems as well as availing of an opportunity to watch the Combined Arms Firepower and Manoeuvre Demonstrations in which all three services (Army, Navy, Air Force) were incorporated.
The adviser to the Ministry of Defence, Mr. Märt Piiskop, pointed out that the fact-finding mission was both interesting and practical. “We received a good overview of the regulation of defence-related issues, especially with regard to the establishment and maintenance of training areas. Of special value are the experiences gained in the regulation of legal issues, which to this date are not regulated in Estonia,” said Mr Piiskop.
The Estonian delegation included representatives from the Environmental Inspectorates of Võru and Harjumaa counties, the State Forest Management Centre, and the Land Board, in addition to their counterparts from the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of the Environment.
