As a result of the meeting between the Tallinn City Major Tõnis Palts and the Minister of Deference Jaak Jõerüüt on May 13, 2005 a joint commission was formed to discuss the location of defence forces ports’ locations.
The members of the commission are Deputy Undersecretary for Defence Planning Lauri Tumm and Deputy Director of Infrastructure Department Veiko Pärlin from the Ministry side and Tallinn Deputy City Major Aivar Reivik and Adviser to Tallinn Deputy City Major Mati Merimaa from the Tallinn City side.
The commission held its first meeting on Tuesday where possible port locations for the use of the defence forces were discussed. The sides agreed that according to the Defence Forces structure and development plan till 2010, the port should be located in Tallinn. The work of the commission will continue.
