Press Release No 38 Defence Minister Jaak Jõerüüt to participate in NATO Defence Ministers’ Official Meeting

The Estonian Minister of Defence Jaak Jõerüüt will fly to Brussels today in order to participate in the NATO Defence Ministers’ Official Meeting.

The two day meetings will focus on NATO transformation with the main emphasis on transforming NATO military capabilities. Discussions will involve initiatives started during NATO Summet Meetings in Istanbul and Prague, but also employment of international troops and different important aspects of overall transformation.
Another important topic will be ongoing NATO operations in Afganistan, Balkans and Iraq.

In addition the defence ministers’ meetings in the framework of NATO-Ukraine Commission, NATO-Russia Council and EAPC meetings will take place.

On June 10 the Minister of Defence of Estonia Jaak Jõerüüt will have a meeting with the Defence Minister of Georgia Irakli Okruashvili.
