The Minister of Defence Sven Mikser met today with the Seniors Board of the Defence League at Ämari Air Sovereignty Operation Centre.
The Defence Policy Deputy Secretary General Margus Kolga gave an overview of the Mid-Term Goals of the Estonian Defence Forces (EDF) and the role of the Defence League (DL) in it.
Presentation “Review of the Force Structure of EDF and the Defence League” focused on the tasks of DL in the Estonian defence structure which are participation in territorial defence system and mobilization arrangements according to the plans and set up tasks by the EDF.
According to the Mid-Term Goals of EDF, also approved by the Government, the whole structure has to be totally ready and functional by the year 2006.
The whole structure of EDF has in its turn to be supported by the national total defence system.
The Defence Minister Sven Mikser stressed that the debate in these questions is always welcome in the circle of experts.
“Seniors Board of the Defence League has had and will always have a clear role in the development of the Estonian defence system,” he said.
