During the meeting the sides discussed possible future Estonian-Japanese defence co-operation as well as Estonia’s preparations for the up-coming NATO summit meeting in Prague this November.
The Japanese Defence Attache was very much interested in the invitation extended by Mikser to the Japanese team to participate in Erna raid in the future. Colonel Kato was also interested in Estonian officers´ education system.
The Japanese Defence Attache to Estonia Colonel Hisanori Kato met during his visit with the Defence Policy Deputy Secretary General Margus Kolga and the Chief of Staff of the Estonian Defence Forces Colonel Alar Laneman.
Colonel Kato has been appointed to the post of the Defence Attache in Finland and Estonia for the period of three years. Kato, born in 1961 has acquired his education in the National Defence Academy and the US Field Artillery School. Kato is married and the father of two children, a girl and a boy.
