"Today's meeting confirmed that we share a very similar understanding of the current threats," Minister Herem stated following the meeting. "We must realistically assess the security situation and existing threats, take swift and practical steps to reinforce the defence capabilities of every Allied nation, and maintain preparations to ensure NATO's readiness to defend Alliance territory under any threat scenario," the Minister of Defence added.
Speaking on the threat Russia poses to Europe and NATO, Herem emphasized that Russia's strategic objectives remain unchanged. For this reason, the meeting focused on expanding and developing the capabilities necessary to counter various types of threats.
Minister Herem also outlined his key defence priorities: the defence of the Baltic Sea, strengthening air and missile defence, and developing the Baltic Defence Line.
