“I have heard nothing but praise for your contribution to the mission, from the Afghan Defence Minister and the NATO Commander to the UK commanders,” said Mr. Ligi, while meeting with the Estonian contingent, who had returned from an operation in Musa-Qala in the northern part of the Helmand province only a couple of hours before.
The Minister of Defence took time to view the equipment and living conditions of the Estonian infantry platoon and was briefed on current developments in the region by unit commanders.
“At home it is sometimes difficult to imagine the magnitude of the tasks you fulfil and the difficulties you face in accomplishing these tasks. After having met with you and your commanders, who represent different NATO staffs, I am even more convinced that you are doing something very important for Estonia and for international security; and that you do it well,” said Mr. Ligi, Minister of Defence, while speaking before Estonian units.
Tomorrow, Mr Ligi will depart Afghanistan and arrive back in Estonia on Sunday afternoon.
